ameinfo.com- Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre (BIEC)'s events calendar for 2008 and 2009 will be packed with landmark events taking place for the first time in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
anaged by Bahrain Exhibition & Convention Authority (BECA), the forerunner organisation with a mandate to promote Bahrain as a premium business destination, BIEC has secured confirmed bookings for several new, international business-to-business (B2B) events for Bahrain, each with a minimum commitment of five years. Bahrain Exhibition & Convention Authority (BECA) functions under the stewardship of its Board of Directors, chaired by H.E. Dr. Hassan A. Fakhro, the Minister of Industry & Commerce. Aimed at promoting inbound business tourism to Bahrain, its activities are instrumental in demonstrating the value of Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre (BIEC) to the overall economy of Bahrain, to the community and in generating income and new jobs for Bahrainis in the hospitality, retail and service sectors. Of the total 13 new, confirmed B2B events that have been included in the events portfolio of Bahrain Exhibition & Convention Authority (BECA), 11 are taking place in 2008 and 2009 for the first time in Bahrain. Work Boat Gulf Exhibition and Conference, scheduled to open at the Centre from 6th to 8th April 2009, marks the first time for Bahrain Exhibition & Convention Authority (BECA) to enter into a joint venture with an Australian event organiser, Baird Publications, the leading global maritime magazine publisher. In addition to an increased number of event licensing applications for concurrent and B2B events organised by professional European and American exhibition organisers who are capitalising on the strength of Bahrain's proximity to the rich markets of the Northern Gulf region, e.g., KSA, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain Exhibition & Convention Authority (BECA) are receiving more requests for International Association Congresses for delegates from 1,000-10,000; many of these requests are bookings for 2009-2012. On average, Bahrain Exhibition & Convention Authority (BECA) receives 16 enquiries daily from the local community for short-term bookings of functions and events such as Group Weddings, Company launches, festivals, concerts, seminars, etc. Annual and biennial exhibitions that have been on the Exhibition Calendar of Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre (BIEC) for more than 10 years now, e.g., Jewellery Arabia, GEO, MEOS, etc., are still running at the Centre; most of which have confirmed tenancies at BIEC for the next few years.
